Our 3.5 week trip to Egypt (and 1 day in Jordan). We flew into Cairo and followed the route shown. First seeing the pyramids at Giza and the Egyptian Museum (as required by the fine print in the tourist visa), and then heading south. On the return journey we spent 2 days sailing (more floating then sailing actually) down the Nile from Aswan to Luxor on a felluca. From there it was to Hurghada on the Red Sea for a day, and then to the Sinai for diving in Dahab and Sharm. Finally we flew from Sharm to Cairo, where we spent the last three days.
Unfortunately, Egypt was the country that finally broke my streak of sick free traveling. The highlight being my run from the dive shop to our hotel in Sharm to retrieve the passports we supposedly needed to board the boat. Nothing says class like puking in a flower pot on the main street in a resort town. Note: No one ever asked to see the passports. I also found it particularly amusing that the pharmacist (using the term loosely) asked if I‘d like any viagra to go with my antibiotics. I declined…everyone knows baldness is a sign of virility. |
