11-11-13 to 11-11-16 - Papua New Guinea - Rabaul

Rabaul. A town that has been thoroughly beat up by a couple of volcanoes. Huge sections are just gone, even the maps show where an airport used to be, where entire sections of the city are buried under tons of ash. The hotel we stayed at managed to survive, but it is surrounded by ruined buildings and piles of ash.

Least sexy naked artwork ever. The last picture shows what happens when you take the cheap public transportation to the airport and have to leave extra early to make sure you have time to catch three different vans...and then everything runs perfectly and you end up at the airport with a lot of time to spare.
